DJ Goodness

When you feel that craving for an assortment of loud, intense, excellent tracks, you can do a lot worse than go down to the Sandbar to hear what their Saturday-night DJs are up to. I’ve not been in a while and last night was exactly what I needed! Ana Miller and Jack Carolan treated us to an expertly chosen mixture of funk, rock ‘n’ roll, psychedelic and garage that got everyone up and dancing; in fact, Ana’s funk collection goes down so well with the crowd that she sometimes struggles to get a break! For me, hearing some old classics (like The Ramones, The Ronettes, or The Specials’ “Ghost Town“) is always cool. And what can I say? I love vinyl. You just can’t beat the way it sounds or even the way it looks spinning around on the turntable. Sandbar is usually good fun; but when the tunes are just right, a happy buzz permeates the whole place to the point where both the bar staff and customers morph into a kind of big extended family. Everyone seems to be on the same wavelength.

Being a bit of a geek and sitting watching the DJs provided me with an excellent vantage point for some sneaky photography, although I did end up dancing in the end! 😀
